Goon Switch
Doki Jam Game Submission
This is my first time making a game. I used Godot and peopel who learned Godot, might know some of the tutorials I've watched to create this xD
I had a ton of fun making this, so thank you for the Doki Jam, made me really happy creating something and I already have ideas for other silly little things I want to make now <3
I don't think I will expand on this game, even though I do have some ideas that didn't make it into the game, but I want to learn how to do other stuff now and then maybe come back to this in the future
(kinda sad I didn't get to use my favorite, the long goon)
(There are 5 Levels in this, the last one not being much, but the end)
(I added a little text document for stuff I didn't add and the whole godot project I think is what the zip is, in case someone wants to look at that <3)

Main Tutorials I used
I drew over the graphics of the tileset of the plattformer tutorial and used the official Dragoons Reference I found to make the player character models. Colors and other inspiration, I took from there and the doki jam announcement video

Hello! I have seen that exact Godot tutorial video! I am so happy to meet a new Godot developer! Your game is solid, pretty fun, and the controls are tight. A visual user interface to show which form is bound to which bird would be handy, but I would suggest your next step in game design to be adding sound effects. Trust me, it brings a WHOLE level of life into the game. My own game for this jam was also Godot, and the moment sound was added it was like the game is newly alive haha.
But anyways, solid game, super well done especially for a first time. I really liked the night level at the end, I wish more levels were fully like this.
Also I found a glitch that was really fun to use, just a coding error but I made a video to show it to you. Basically if you spam shift, you can rocket forward endlessly. I would design a whole game around a mechanic like this, its just fun. Always follow the fun!
oooh, thank you for your insights!!
adding any audio completely slipped my mind xD
I found out about thatdashing thing too after I uploaded it and didn't evaluate if it's a problem, because I just thought it's fun xD Now that I think about it though, you can probably skip quite some parts of the game
its nicely done but the controls are too awkward for me - i would make W jump , space for the action an just 1 button to cycle through the different characters to simplify things .
had to give up on level 4 due to the controls ...
How'd you find this already? xD
Thanks for he feedback! I must have gotten used to he controls and not realised how bad it really is.
I thought 1 button to switch through them could be too slow, but I never tried it, so could work well actually
